Existing Building Decarbonization

EXISTING BUILDING

DECARBONIZATION SERVICES

Tracking, benchmarking, and reducing the carbon emissions associated with existing buildings is critical to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.
The implementation of policies and regulations that require some or all these activities has been steadily accelerating in cities and towns across the country in pursuit of meaningful progress towards their carbon reduction goals.

Deep Energy Retrofit

A Deep Energy Retrofit (DER) leverages the investments made during a building refinance and rehabilitation process to achieve significant energy load reduction, carbon emissions mitigation, and improved resiliency, health, and comfort.

The team at New Ecology facilitates DER projects through comprehensive early stage building assessment and preliminary scope development, funding/financing opportunity evaluation, and comprehensive integrated design and construction services.

Our goal is to ensure that decarbonization measures are effectively designed and constructed, and that future operation and maintenance costs and needs have been addressed.

Zero Over Time

A Zero Over Time (ZOT) plan provides a roadmap for short- and long-term improvements to significantly reduce a building’s carbon emissions. It provides the information necessary for building owners and operators to ensure that regular decision making around property upgrades and improvements are in alignment with emissions goals and regulations, while avoiding increased costs and operational burden.

NEI supports owners through the creation of ZOT plans and implementation of discrete decarbonization retrofit projects.

The Building Decarbonization team is pioneering the renewal of existing housing stock through a number of approaches, including:
