The following is a list of the projects that NEI is currently
providing technical assistance to:
Project Name: Olmsted
Green
Location: Boston, MA
Description: 500 units of housing, including 153 affordable rental
apartments, 80 units of supportive housing for seniors, and a 123-bed
skilled nursing facility, on 38.5 acres of the site of the former Boston
State Hospital.
Developer: Lena Park CDC/New Boston Development
Dates: August 2004 to present
New Ecology Role: Primary sustainability consultant for project
and member of the project team. Develop green design guidelines, raise
project funds, help manage integrated design process, advise on selecting
project team, coordinate utility and energy star involvement, assist
in permitting, research technologies, review specifications, coordinate
with contractors, and pilot erosion management plan.
Project Name: Project
Hope
Location: Lawrence, MA
Description: 20 units of supportive and mostly transitional housing
for homeless or very-low income individuals and families
Developer: Lazarus House Ministries
Dates: August 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Primary sustainability consultant for project
and member of the project team. Manage integrated design process, develop
sustainability goals, raise project funds, coordinate utility involvement,
research technologies, and review specifications.
Project Name: Welcome
Home Veterans Housing
Location: New Bedford, MA
Description: Rehabilitation of a commercial mill building into
19 units of affordable housing for disabled veterans.
Developer: South Shore Housing Development Corporation
Dates: March 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Primary sustainability consultant for project.
Help manage integrated design process, develop project standards, raise
project funds, coordinate utility involvement, research technologies,
review specs and coordinate with architect, and coordinate energy star
process.
Project Name: Visiting
Nurses Association Assisted Living
Location: Somerville, MA
Description: New development of 95-unit assisted living facility
for low income seniors.
Developer: Visiting Nurse Foundation
Dates: March 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Primary sustainability consultant for project.
Manage integrated design process, develop project standards, raise project
funds, coordinate utility involvement, research technologies, review
specs and coordinate with architect. Raise dedicated funds for and oversee
energy modeling. Investigate alternative energy strategies.

Polycarps Site Redevelopment
Location: Somerville, MA
Description: Development of 75 units of housing; 50 condominiums
and 25 tax credit rentals.
Developer: Somerville Community Corporation
Dates: January 2006 to present
New Ecology Role: Green Screen Assessment-early stage collaboration
with developer to assemble design team and scope out options for greening
project.
Project Name: Neponset
Field
Location: Mattapan, MA
Description: Development of industrial site into 48 homeownership
units and 51 senior rental units.
Developer: ETC Development/Mattapan Community Development Corp.
Dates: February 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Primary sustainability consultant for project.
Manage integrated design process, develop project standards, raise project
funds, coordinate utility involvement, research technologies, review
specs and coordinate with architects. Specific attention paid to energy
efficiency, low impact development techniques, and integration of greening
with adaptive environment for seniors.
Project Name: Callaghan
Gardens
Location: Pawtucket, RI
Description: Redevelopment of urban site into 14 homeownership
units.
Developer: Pawtucket Citizens Development Corporation
Dates: September 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Work with developer and architects to green
project, focusing on energy and water efficiency, indoor air quality
and durability. Seek to make project less costly to occupy for first-time
homebuyers. Coordinate with utilities and energy star. Raise project
funds.
Project Name: ZUMIX
Music Education Facility
Location: East Boston, MA
Description: Renovation of fire station into performance and
practice space for music education program.
Developer: ZuMix/East Boston CDC
Dates: November 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Sustainability consultant to project. Develop
project goals, participate in integrated design process, and incorporate
greening and program goals with the acoustical requirements of space.
Raise project funds, coordinate with utilities.
Project Name: Homeowner's
Rehab Energy Management Plan
Location: Cambridge, MA
Description: Energy management assessment for part of 800-unit
portfolio of affordable rental housing.
Developer: Homeowner's Rebab
Dates: July 2005 to present
New Ecology Role: Provide technical assistance to project team
in developing energy management plan, project scope of work, review
and analysis of energy consumption, recommendations/options for retrofits
and financing strategies.
Project Name: Jackson
Square Redevelopment
Location: Jamaica Plain/Roxbury, MA
Description: Major redevelopment of 6-acre transit oriented site,
including 430 new home ownership units, 65,000 sq ft. retail, 30,000
sq ft office space, and community recreation space

Cabot Street
