CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

28-29 November, 2006 - IDB Auditorium, Washington DC

The Inter-American Development Bank is inviting decision-makers from the private and public sector to discuss investment opportunities in renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change mitigation and adaptation in Latin America and the Caribbean. The 2-day conference seeks to promote investment and policy support for sustainable energy projects by engaging Latin American and Caribbean high-level officials and experts in discussions on actions to facilitate a substantial increase in investment in sustainable energy in areas including energy, housing, transportation and industry. The conference will address the future needs of the region at the local and national levels by analyzing ways to support the development of biofuels and carbon finance markets, while looking at current experiences in the private as well as the public sectors, in areas such as housing, transportation and rural electrification.
